Introduction

So... for those of you who don't know my name is Jordan Pfahl. I am currently a Senior Actuarial Science major. The short version of what Actuarial Science is for those of you who don't care is that it has a lot to do with statistics, or an even shorter version is Ben Stiller's character from "Along Came Poly." For people who do care an Actuary deals with risk assessment and management on people and things, and yes I'm the person that figures out how much of a risk you are to yourself and others. Currently I am on course to graduate this upcoming spring. I have two cats who somehow I became strangely allergic to only after being at Ohio University. I really only took this class because it fit into my schedule and is an afternoon class. That being said my expectations for this class are really wide open because I am not really sure what I should expect from a vampire class. I think the uniqueness of this class is really what could make this class fun, or at least I'm praying it will.

  1. Hi, Jordan. Your definition of Actuarial Science is really interesting. I alway think Actuarial Science is so mysterious. By the way, your allergic may not because of your cats. From the start of this summer, lots of people get allergic in Athens and they never have it before even thought they live in Athens for years. It is strange. Hope you get better.

  2. Helloo,
I think 'Along Came Polly' is hilarious and I guess I never thought that people actually went to school for that occupation! Haha. It sounds really interesting, although I've never been good with numbers/statistics--more of an English buff.
Im looking forward to your responses on the books we read, especially since you have such an open outlook on the class!

  4. You major sounds interesting, it sounds like more than just statistics alone and something bigger. I'm sorry to hear you're allergic to your cats all of a sudden, I love cats so I would be pretty upset if that happened. Also, I agree about the uniqueness of the class, it will make it more fun than standard English classes.
